Description - Kidnapping ASCI
: "Kidnapping ASCI" was born as an entry for the Experimental Gameplay Project of February 2011: the challenge was to design a game where the only graphic elements allowed are the ASCII code characters! My main goal in designing the gameplay of "Kidnapping ASCI" was to represent in some way the essence of the ASCII code: communicating. The idea is then allowing the player to interact with "streams" of letters which flow along the streets of a stylized city, in order to deliver messages and complete the proposed missions. In a game where the only objects available are ASCII characters, I felt that the most natural way to use them was for delivering messages! Type letters on your keyboard to make them appear at the starting point on the map of the city. The letter will appear only if the road, at the starting point, is clear in that moment. Once the letter is deployed, you can`t control it anymore: it will follow the stream of letters, unless it changes direction after a collision at one of the Crossroads. As for the rest, follow the in-game instructions in order to find out who kidnapped ASCI!
